Greek Chicken Gyros

Ingredients:

1 pound boneless chicken thighs, cut into strips

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 teaspoons dried oregano

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

4 pitas or flatbreads

1 cup diced cucumbers

1 cup diced tomatoes

1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon fresh dill, chopped (optional)

Instructions

In a bowl, combine the chicken strips, olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the chicken.

Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the chicken. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and slightly browned. Remove from heat.

In a small bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, dill (if using), and a pinch of salt to create a quick tzatziki sauce.

Warm the pitas or flatbreads in a dry pan for a minute on each side or until soft and pliable.

To assemble, place a portion of the chicken in the center of each pita. Top with diced cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onion.

Drizzle with the tzatziki sauce and wrap the pita around the filling.

Serve the gyros warm with extra tomatoes and cucumbers on the side.

Notes:
Feel free to add your favorite toppings like feta cheese or olives for extra flavor.
You can substitute chicken with other proteins like beef or lamb according to your preference.
